music monday: brooke fraser

Tonight has been a longish night for me. Matt and I have to move soon, and we've found the house we really, really, REALLY want. We walked in the door and I just felt at home. I can just picture us living life there for a long time. I can picture us starting a family there and me having a little garden and playing in the yard and making yummy meals for friends and family. But it turns out we're not the only ones who feel that way and we have some competition with another couple who saw it this morning. We find out tomorrow if we get it or not, and I have been freaking out all night. I want it so bad and I might be heartbroken if he doesn't pick us. But I've been praying through it and remembering that 1. it's just a house, it's a material thing and it will pass away. If we don't get it, we will move on and God will still provide us with shelter. and 2. God really does give us the desires of our hearts if we find our joy in Him. I've been praying really contradictory prayers. One minute I'm asking God to help me just let it go and be ok with whatever happens and the next I'm literally BEGGING for this house. I took a little break from my praying/freaking to read some blogs and I stumbled onto 2 really encouraging ones that I've never heard of before, In His Grace and Life Made Lovely. I think just reading things that woman who have put their trust in Jesus, even if they're not writing about exactly what I'm going through makes me feel encouraged and at peace. Another thing that makes me feel encouraged and at peace is this song by Brooke Fraser. It always lifts me up and reminds me of what's important. I don't even watch the video because it just distracts me from the words. I love the words, and I believe them, so I'm singing this song tonight and trusting that no matter what I find out tomorrow, I'm heard and I'm safe and taken care of. And there are bigger things in life than whether or not I get exactly what I want.

Music Monday: Landon Pigg

Todays music is "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg. This song is several years old, but I just saw the video for it a couple months ago. Is it not the sweetest video you've ever seen?!?! Swoon. I could watch it over and over. I love the concept, the tone, everything. I also want to paint my nails all different colors after seeing it on the girl in the video! Prepare to have your heart melted : )

Music Monday: Mike Mains and the Branches

OMG. This band is so good. Hubby's band, The Waking Point, got to open for them on Saturday in Louisville. I didn't get to go but I've watched the video about a hundred times. I am LOVING this song. The lyrics are incredible. I'm looking forward to hearing more from Mike Mains and the Branches because they are FANTASTIC. Wouldn't you agree??

I love emery

I got to see these guys for the third time this weekend. They never ever disappoint. I have so much respect for musicians/bands who show up and out-do their recorded songs live. Emery is by far one of the best bands i've ever seen or heard.

Music Monday: Local Natives

I may or may not have already feature Local Natives. I don't know. I also don't feel like looking. So there's that.

I'm a new big fan of Local Natives. I can't wait to see them live one day. I bet there is lots of dancing involved in their shows. Just like this video!! It definitely makes me want to dance and jump around with my franz!

Music Monday: Matt Costa

I have loved Matt Costa's music since I first heard it about 4 years ago. Matt and I got to see him a couple years ago at Miami and he was SO good. This song is one that I have to do a little dance to every single time it comes on my ipod and then I usually hit repeat at least once or twice. Enjoy!

Music Monday: Lady Edition

Sorry I haven't been blogging on my thirty days of thankfulness. I've been journaling about it and keeping it up, I just needed a small blog break. And lets be honest, it's a miracle I blogged a week in a row! We are going to be starting a new weekly feature called Music Monday (hence the title) Matt and I will each post one video that we're loving each Monday. My video is from Brooke Frazer. I've been hearing about her for ages, and finally about 2 months ago finally looked her up, and I totally dig her. Her music is spunky and fun and girly. My kind of thing!!
