birthdays

This Sunday is my 26th birthday, and the beard got me tickets to see The Civil Wars as one of my gifts. They're easily in my top 5 favorite bands, probably top 3, and they're show was probably the best I've been to. They are SO good. SO SO SO good. I don't think I blinked once. I was just in awe of them. Before we went to the show we went to High Five Salon in O'bryanville so Christine could trim my hair. If you live in Cincinnati or NKY, You should go to High Five. It's not your typical salon experience. I always leave that place feeling like I'm one of the best people in the world. Everyone makes you feel gorgeous and loved and comfy. And Christine can rock out some awesome haircuts. I just love her. Plus everyone who works there is like the coolest person I've ever seen. I love that place. Do yourself a fave and go to High Five and get a haircut from Christine. You won't regret it! After that we went to dinner at PF Changs. MMMMMMMM. Lettuce Wraps. Steamed Dumplings. Kung Pao Chicken. MMMMMMMMM. That's all I can say. THEN we had dessert at Aglamesis bros. We both think they're better than Graeters. They are SOOOO yummy. We used to live a block away from them in Oakley and eating there brings back lots of memories of walking home on a HOT night eating butterscotch ice cream on a sugar cone from Aglamesis. They cooled down many a brutally humid Cincinnati evening last year. After we finished our ice cream we walked across the street to the 20th Century Theater where the show was. As we're walking in, we look up and what do ya know; there walking next to us is John Paul White ( 1/2 of The Civil Wars), and he held the door open for me. And I said I was really excited to see them play. And he said thanks. Awesome. It was such a good night. We are celebrating again Sunday starting with lunch in Oxford with my mama and then dinner at Teak with some of our closest friends. I'm so excited.

Here are some pictures from last night!

hope your weekend is as grand as mine will be : ) xoxo.

Music Monday.....Bearded Birfday edition...

It's my birthday.....so i'm gonna put a couple videos...because i'm a man and i do what i want.

Dear birfday boy,

Thanks for being manly and hunky and studly. Thanks for reaching things when I can't reach them, which is most of the time. thanks for giving me cuddles any time I want. thanks for being so funny and making me laugh on a very regular basis. thanks for being so passionate about being creative and following your dreams. thanks for loving garden gnomes as much as I do, thanks for letting me decorate things in a girly manner even though I know you'd rather have a little more man and a little less bird pattern. thanks for not telling me to shut up when I constantly ask you whether or not I should get my nose pierced because I can't make up my mind. Thanks for telling me I'm super fly every time I start to get down on myself. Thanks for letting me bring stray dogs home. Thanks for letting me bring stray cats home! Thanks for giving me hugs when I cry in parking lots over giving said stray cats away. Thanks for playing with my hair to put me to sleep at night. Thanks for being protective over me and giving hardcore looks to teenagers when they check me out. Thanks for being a totally legit super awesome drummer. Thanks for laughing at my awesomely stupid jokes and not telling me what a crazy person I am when I start making random noises and/or dancing for no apparent reason. Thanks for going on picnics with me and letting me buy out-of-our-budget anthropologie stuff. Thanks for thinking I'm cool and indy when really I just don't match. Thanks for putting up with me when I go all hormonally psycho on you. Thanks for being there for me all the time and giving me wise, godly advice when I need it, and thanks for being an awesome leader. And thanks for not calling me a fatty when I ate cookies and milk before bed last night and then again when I got up this morning. I love you so much!!! Happy Birthday to the best hubby everrrrr!!!

Thrifted

So Matt's birthday is Monday, and tonight we're celebrating with friends over a delicious brinner bash. For those of you who don't know what brinner is, I'll explain. It is the act of eating breakfast for dinner. This is Matt's favorite. So tonight, we shall feast upon a breakfast casserole (his mama's recipe), big fluffy biscuits, bacon, cinnamon rolls, yummy fruit, 3 different kinds of cereal, and mimosas. And we will have cookies and milk for dessert. Because hello, cookies and milk goes with the brinner theme too. Don't act like you never eat a heaping pile of oreos or chocolate chip cookies dipped in milk for breakfast. Anyway, I was on a mission to find some cute pitchers to pour milk and juice out of last night, and OMG. I found a diamond. I was browsing St. Vincent De Paul and was feeling pretty disappointed and uninspired by their selection. My general opinion every time I go in St. Vincent is that they don't have anything worth writing home about and they're overpriced most of the time. So there I am, looking at all these cracked, ugly, overpriced pitchers when my eye catches the splendor of this legit vintage goddess. Not only is it a super cute, unharmed pitcher that just needs a good washing, it includes ALL the accessories needed to brew loose leaf tea in it!! OMG OMG OMG!!! I promptly grabbed this baby up and payed the 2 DOLLARS it cost. Then scurried out before anyone could try and steal it from me. 2 FREAKING DOLLARS!!! I am on cloud 9. Feast your eyes upon her, she is grand.

Sigh. It may be the beards birthday, but the lady got a present : )
